A Magistrates’ Court sitting in Osogbo on Wednesday ordered the remand of a fake Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Okoye Charles, in Ilesa Correctional Facility for alleged impersonation and fraud.

It was gathered that Charles who had earlier pleaded guilty to the offenses is facing a two-count charge preferred against him.

The magistrate, Mr Isola Omisade, had ordered the remand of the defendant pending the establishment of the facts of the case, which are to be tendered on the next date of adjournment,

The magistrate then adjourned the case until March 1 for judgement.

The Prosecutor, Insp. Kayode Adeoye had told the court that the defendant committed the offences on Feb. 19, 8:30 pm, at Dugbe Police Station in Osogbo.

Adeoye said the defendant allegedly paraded himself as an Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) before the public to defraud them before he was apprehended.

He said that the offences committed by the defendant contravened Sections 484 and 249 (d) of the Criminal Code, Cap 34, Vol. 11, Laws of Osun, 2002.

The defendant had no legal representation in the course of his trial
