Man Kills Wife With A Pestle In Anambra

A 34-year-old man, James Nwogha, is believed to have cudgeled his 30-year old wife, Jennifer Nwogha, to death in the early hours of Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Number 2 Umudioka Street Ngbuka Nkpor, Idemili North Council Area.

The suspect reportedly hit the deceased with a pestle during an altercation between them.

The couple who are blessed with five children – three boys and two girls – recently packed into the building where the tragedy occurred.

According to reports from a neighbour, the couple lived peacefully and were into pap making business. They had just finished sieving pap at about 2 a.m. ahead of the following day’s business when the wife went in to sleep and her husband soon followed with a pestle with which he hit her on the head.

A video from the scene shows shocked neighbours gathered round as the body of the dead woman, wrapped in a blanket, was carried out of the house.

Police spokesperson, Haruna Mohammed, confirmed the incident, adding that the suspect has been arrested and detained.
