Man fined with 30 strokes of cane for stealing fan from Bauchi mosque
A man has been given a fine of N30,000 with 30 strokes of cane after stealing a fan from a mosque in Bauchi State.
The said man, identified as Salisu Aliyu, 25 was sentenced to 15 months imprisonment by a Bauchi Sharia court after he confessed of stealing a fan from a mosque in Dass Park area of Bauchi metropolis.
The offender was, however, given an option of fine of N30,000 and 30 lashes of cane before the court.
In another development, the Sharia Court judge, Mukhtar Bello also sentenced one Abduljalal Sadiq to seven months imprisonment for stealing a wheelbarrow.
Bello was also given an option of fine of N7,000 and 12 strokes of cane before the court.
The offender admitted before the court to have stolen the wheelbarrow and sold it to metal collectors.
