Acting President Yemi Osinbajo has said Ibrahim Magu will continue as the chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission as long as he remains Acting President and President Muhammadu Buhari still has his mandate, Vanguard reports.

Osinbajo reportedly said this on Thursday during the commissioning of the Zonal office of the EFCC in Kaduna.

He said, “He will remain the EFCC chairman as long as I remain the Acting President and as well as Muhammadu Buhari remains the President”.

This comes after the Senate demanded an apology from Osinbajo for stating that the executive does not need the approval of the senate to appoint Magu EFCC chairman.

The upper chamber had suspended approval of nominees by the presidency over the statement.
