Rildwan Lawal, a 30 year old man who is facing a charge of armed robbery, at the Federal Correctional Centre, has been remanded by a Magistrates’ Court in Iyaganku, Ibadan, Oyo State, on Monday.

The defendant, whose residential address was not provided, is standing trial on two counts of alleged conspiracy and armed robbery.

The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, who did not take the defendant’s plea for lack of jurisdiction, ordered his remand at the correctional facility.

Amole-Ajimoti directed the Police Prosecutor to send the duplicate case file to the Director of Public Prosecutions for legal advice.

She adjourned the case until August 26 for mention.

The Prosecutor, Mr Philip Amusan, had told the court that the defendant committed the offences sometime in May, at the Ologuneru area, Ibadan.

He alleged that the defendant, with others now at large, robbed the complainant, one Oladapo Oyedayo, of his Infinix 11 Play phone worth N92,000, Infinix Hot 101 phone, valued at N75,000 and Tecno phone worth N75,000.

Amusan told the court the defendant also allegedly robbed the complainant of a gold hand chain worth N132,000, gold earring worth N97,000 and N195,200 cash.

He said the offences contravened Sections 6b and 1(a) of the Robbery and Firearms (Special Provisions) ACT, 2004.
