Managing Director of Fouani Company and 3 Lebanese abducted in Lagos
Unknown gunmen have abducted the Managing Director of Fouani Company along with three Lebanese nationals while they were traveling by boat in Lagos State on Friday, June 14.
According to a report by Punch, the victims were taken around Falomo Bridge as they commuted from Apapa to Victoria Island. While the identities of the victims have not been officially confirmed, it has been disclosed that the abductors have demanded a ransom for their release.
A source familiar with the incident, speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitivity of the case, revealed that the kidnappers have asked for $1.5 million in exchange for the captives’ freedom.
“Yesterday (Friday) evening, the Managing Director of Fouani Company (LG and Hisense) and three Lebanese were kidnapped around Falomo Bridge while traveling from Apapa to Victoria Island by boat. The kidnappers have asked for $1.5m,” the source disclosed.
When reached for comments, Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, Benjamin Hundeyin, confirmed the incident. “Yes, it is true. We got the report and we are looking into it. Please, I’m not obliged to state more than that. I’m not obliged to state the names, when, where, and how it happened for now but we are looking into it,” Hundeyin said.
The authorities have launched an investigation into the abduction, and efforts are underway to secure the safe release of the victims. The incident has raised concerns about security and the safety of waterways in Lagos State.
