Luton Town vs. Chelsea: Why this is much trickier for the Blues?

West-London side, Chelsea travel to Kenilworth Road to face Luton Town in hopes of building on to the 2-1 win against Crystal Palace over in mid-week.

But contrary to how this fixture appears on paper, its a lot more trickier for Chelsea even though they head to Luton Town as obvious favorites. Not to disregard or write off the talent factory the Blues have in their ‘arsenal’, the Hatters are actually a side to be wary of.

And judging from Chelsea’s off and on form, the Blues cannot go to Kenilworth Road and afford to let their guards down or be nonchalant about seeing off their chances.

Luton Town in their last 2 games have secured two wins, surprisingly beating Newcastle United with a 1-0 win, playing out a 2-3 victory against Chris Wilder’s Sheffield United to put the Hatters high on confidence.

Interestingly, the Hatters very nearly secured results against the top sides; Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United for the lack of a better word, and surely will be ruing not being resilient enough to get over the line in those games. Against Liverpool, it took the intervention of Luis Diaz to save the Reds from certain defeat at the death.

Bearing in mind the little highlights and sparks versus the top guns, it isn’t long before the Hatters get that shock result they are desperately looking for against the top teams; a narrative Chelsea need to be careful of heading out of Kenilworth Road.

Currently, Luton Town stand 1 point behind Everton and away from safety, in 18th place on the premier league table, a situation Chelsea needs to consider trickery. A win or a draw against the Blues sees them out of the relegation zone depending on the results of Everton, and in part, Nottingham Forest.
