The eventual penalty which was scored by Mohamed Salah soon followed a 90th minute sealer from Nunez himself to give a 3-1 score line at Full Time.

After the game, Nunez made some social media posts in reaction to the result, to which Luis Suarez sent a message.

In response to the Uruguay international’s post of: “Give me that shield,” Suarez sent a response saying in Spanish:

“Felicitaciones (Congratulations) @Darwinn99! YNWA @liverpoolfc,” acknowledging his compatriot’s talent and prowess.

Prior to Darwin Nunez’s arrival at Anfield, he has been likened to his countryman, Luis Suarez, but the 35 year old being humble, expressed Nunez has his own story to write without bothering about living to his own legacy.

“He (Nunez) will write his own story at Liverpool. He is Uruguayan and he is a forward but that is where the comparisons stop – he is a special player and doesn’t need to be compared with anybody.

“It was last season that Europe started to take notice of him because of his performances for Benfica – but from an early age I could see there was something special in him. While he was at Almeria I recommended him to Barcelona but it was something that never happened.” Suarez said.
