Joe Gomez this season for Liverpool

Liverpool aren’t always famed for doing things the easy way are they?

After a nervy start to last night’s fixture against Southampton, Liverpool manager may have a lot to worry about in regards to the fitness of his players as Joe Gomez was pictured in crutches after half time substitution.

The player had to be forced off in the match with Jordan Henderson, after picking an injury that appears to be muscular shortly before the half time break, which made the victory a little bit tarnished as it isn’t clear if Gomez will be back before the Champions League final.

Jurgen Klopp’s Liverpool side had picked up a 2-1 win away to Southampton to keep the Premier League race interesting and to the last day than gift City a cut to the title with one game to go.

The Liverpool manager in his post match conference revealed that the 24-year-old defender was in pain.

Joe Gomez’s Liverpool career has so far being plagued by injuries that in one way or the other has halted the defender’s impact and progression in the team, with his status diminishing every season.

Former Liverpool teammate, Adam Lallana spoke of Gomez’s situation saying, “It doesn’t look great for Joe Gomez walking down the tunnel. I’m not sure whether it’s a twist or his muscle. Hopefully it’s minor. It’ll be absolutely tragic [if he’s a serious injury]. He’s a top professional. He’s had devastating luck with serious injuries.”

Although there are no doubts to Gomez’s talents as a footballer, but his case seems a tragic one for a footballer seeking to be an impact in a team.
