Liverpool’s Jurgen Klopp Left Fazed By Vinicius Jr. Question
Liverpool’s manager, Jurgen Klopp is one manager that has always found himself confronted by silly questions from journalists at press conferences, and ever the master in psychological games, the German finds a way to outwit a Vinicius Jr. question that was directed at him.
The Liverpool manager was left baffled by the journalist’s question about Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr. ahead of their Champions League round of 16 first-leg tie on Tuesday night.
During the pre-match press conference, a reporter asked whether Vinicius Jr. brings abuse on himself due to an aspect of his game that is sometimes provocative and creates a reaction.
Jurgen Klopp was taken aback by the question and replied:
“That he is doing something on the pitch that could cause it? There is nothing in the world that could justify that. Imagine if I say yes, that would be completely insane.” He went on to praise the Brazilian player, labeling him as world-class and a potential Real Madrid legend.
Fans were quick to react on social media, with one calling the question “bottom of the barrel stuff.”
Vinicius Jr. had previously condemned the vile abuse he received in September and spoke out against racism, saying, “As long as the colour of the skin is more important than the brightness of the eyes, there will be war.”
Liverpool faced Real Madrid in the first leg of their Champions League round of 16 tie at Anfield on Tuesday night, where Vinicius played a crucial role in his team’s 3-1 victory.
Despite the loss, Jurgen Klopp praised Vinicius’ performance, saying he was a “constant threat” and that his side had difficulty dealing with him.
What the reporter is directing at is the criticism Vinicius Jr. has been faced with recently as relates to his on-pitch celebration after a goal.
