Liverpool’s Diogo Jota Injured

Liverpool’s Diogo Jota was unlucky in the recent Nations League games as the Portugal international picked up an injury in the fixture against Switzerland.

The UEFA Nations run of games, is a competition that has received wide range of criticisms partly from those involved.

This is partly because it holds no weight against prestigious tournaments like the FIFA World Cup and Euros and the fact that it takes place rightly into the off season when players should be on holidays.

Liverpool Coach, Jurgen Klopp is most famous for being very outspoken against it, and this time one can’t imagine what the German would think of as it is confirmed one of his key players, Diogo Jota would be going off for a while.

The Portuguese Football Federation released a statement revealing the player had complained about muscle pain at the end of their match against Switzerland, and following medical tests, a thigh issue was confirmed.

Diogo Jota wasn’t able to be on the pitch for long though as he was second half substitution that was unlucky to pick up an injury.

According to the FPF, Liverpool were informed of the issue including all procedures the player went through while still in Switzerland.

In the last games of the Nations League, Jota had missed the match against Spain, started against Switzerland and Czech Republic, and then came off the bench in the second game versus Switzerland.

The 25-year-old hasn’t been lucky to score in the tournament but had contributed 2 assists in the first game against Switzerland.

Jota’s last goal for Liverpool came against Manchester City in April, and he will hope to be fully fit for the start of the season, which ironically starts against Manchester City in the Community Shield.

He would hope to get on the score sheets then and start the season well going forward.
