Liverpool vs. Fulham: Prove you can't script the Premier League

There is something about Liverpool, they never make things easy for themselves, and the game against Fulham is prove enough that the premier league would be lost without them being a threat.

Liverpool vs. Fulham at Anfield was another definition of a premier league classic that leaves fans and neutrals on the edge of their seats.

The Cottagers came into the famous Anfield ground as underdogs but left Liverpool very much on the fringes with defense splitting runs that left the Reds open at the back with each set piece and counter attack.

To be fair to Liverpool, they had their moments of dominance, but unfair to them was their inability to utilize those efforts to put themselves in a favorable position to finish off the game before final whistle.

Analyzing this game should be done in phases; the phase where the Reds were dominant and phases where Fulham came to punish the visitors.

For the phases where Liverpool held dominance, Worldies upon Worldies of goals categorized the moments, with Liverpool’s Right-Back/Midfielder Trent Alexander-Arnold kick-starting the tie with a perfectly taken free kick to put the Reds ahead.

For a free kick like that, neutrals and fans alike would think an onslaught of goals from Liverpool would follow, but alas, minutes after Trent Alexander-Arnold had put his team ahead, former Red, Harry Wilson leveled up for Fulham to quieten the Home fans.

If Alexis Mac Alister had chosen the right moment to score his first goal for the Reds, he did that by putting up a classical finish from 30-yards out in typical Steven Gerrard fashion to put Liverpool up again. However, Fulham seemingly came prepared for the afternoon, and the sight of Caomhin Kelleher in goal for Liverpool, gave the Cottagers the confidence they needed.

Twice they went down by a goal, twice they leveled, with Kenny Tete netting the second for Fulham to end the first half on equal terms.

The second half continued the premier league tie again this same way it started the initial half, but this time with Fulham going up ahead in the 80th minute via substitute, Bobby Decordova-Reid’s header to leave Anfield in fear.

But this game was all about the poetic narratives, and for Wataru Endo, his substitution into the game in the 83rd minute gave the Reds hope at turning things around. The Japanese international came into the tie to net his very first premier league goal for Liverpool 3 minutes from time to give Liverpool hope.

And like he started the tie, Trent Alexander-Arnold ended it with yet another stunner for a goal to win the game for Liverpool and move them closer to top spot.

From winning positions to a losing position, and back to a winning position, Liverpool made things harder for themselves so they can entertain fans with 4 classic finishes.
