It seems England just birthed a new rivalry as the 2021/22 season looks to round up with Liverpool-Manchester City in loggerheads for the title till final day, they begin the season once more in loggerheads for the Charity shield in the coming 2022/23 season.

There is no argument it is now one of the most fiercely contested rivalries in English football history, and both sides are already guaranteed to face each other 3 times next season like they did this season.

Along with 2 confirmed meetings in the Premier League, the 2 sides will face each other in the Community Shield on July 31, after the Reds were confirmed winners of the FA Cup. And as per tradition, winners of both the Premier League face off against the FA Cup winners.

Of course, there is a possibility that winners of the FA Cup could go on to win the Premier League this season, but that doesn’t change the fixture as that means, the second placed Premier League team will automatically be guaranteed a place in the Charity shield.

The curtain-raiser, which is often seen as more than even though it is a pre-season friendly, usually takes place at Wembley but it looks set to be different this coming season.

According to reports, the King Power Stadium, which Leicester City play their home games in is currently in a list of favored alternatives to be chosen as venue. This is because Wembley will be hosting the European Women’s Championship final on the same day.

The Emirates, the London Stadium, Elland Road and Villa Park are stadiums among the list.

The coming season looks to be quite the short one as the World Cup falls in the middle of the season in November, with a break falling in that period to allow internationals represent their countries in the Qatar tournament.
