Liverpool Treated Me With More Respect Than United—Ronaldo

On Sunday night, Cristiano Ronaldo shook the internet when an explosive footage of an interview with Piers Morgan was released on social media that has the Portuguese condemning Man United, and how badly the club’s executives handled his pre-season issues.

Prior to the start of the season and during the pre-season, the club revealed the star player will be absent from the pre-season training owing to some private family issues that had developed.

So many media narratives were spurred by the media and pundits alike, however Cristiano Ronaldo has revealed the true story of what transpired, which was far from what the media had narrated.

The former Real Madrid man revealed his new born daughter who was 3 months old at the time took ill and was sent to the hospital in July which had prompted in Ronaldo absenting himself from the pre-season tour.

However, Ronaldo admitted to Morgan that he felt “hurt” and “bad” because some of the club’s top officials had doubts about him. While also asserting that the club lacked “empathy” during the “most trying time of my life,” he said.

While speaking with Morgan, Ronaldo discussed his affection for his family. 37-year-old male said:

“My family is everything to me. Even more so after what we have been through this year.”

The baby boy’s twin sister was born alive, but Ronaldo and his partner Georgina lost their son in childbirth in April.

Ronaldo was given compassionate leave following the incident and was unable to play in the club’s subsequent match against Liverpool.

He and his family, though, were moved by the tributes shown to him by both groups of fans at Anfield.

He said:

“I never expected to see that,” after seeing the whole stadium sing ‘You’ll Never Walk Alone in the seventh minute.

Ronaldo also discussed the stagnation at United following Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement during the shocking interview.

He said:

“As Picasso said, you have to destroy it to rebuild it (the artist’s exact quote was: ‘Every act of creation is first an act of destruction.’) and if they start with me, for me, it’s not a problem.

“I love Manchester United, I love the fans, they’re always on my side. But if they want to do it different… they have to change many, many things.”
