Liverpool to start Premier League without 8 players

Liverpool may start the coming Premier League season on panic mode as the club could be without 8 players ahead of the game against Fulham.

The Reds had quite the mixed season, winning some of their pre-season games and losing a few, though a triumph against Manchester City in the Community Shield may give the team confidence boost ahead of the Premier League opener.

But according to reports revealed by the manager, Jurgen Klopp, the team could be without at least 8 players in the squad travelling to Craven Cottage.

Amongst those on injury list are; goalkeeper Alisson Becker, who according to Klopp could be 100% fit before Saturday.

Becker missed the Community Shield tie without even travelling with the team like Jota and Tsimikas did.

Other players that could be absent are the likes of Diogo Jota, who signed a new contract yesterday and Ibrahima Konate who left the pitch injured after the pre-season game against French club.

Diogo Jota is expected to be out for at least 2 weeks, whereas new concerns are on Naby Keita and Curtis Jones.

Both players missed the friendly against Strasbourg on Sunday, with Klopp hinting at their unavailability ahead of the Fulham game.

“Naby is ill and Curtis felt a little bit and we couldn’t take any risks,” Jurgen Klopp said on Keita.

“Curtis, we have to see. [There] was no impact or whatever, so that always makes it a bit, ‘My god, what could it be?’ We had no time; he felt it today and he wanted to play desperately, but then the medical department said no and that we needed to make further tests. We will do that tomorrow and then we will know more.”

Oxlade-Chamberlain and Kelleher are other names out injured and both of them are already ruled out while Tsimikas will go through a late fitness test.
