Liverpool secures Giorgi Mamardashvili signing for 2025

Liverpool has struck an agreement to sign Georgian goalkeeper Giorgi Mamardashvili from Valencia, but the move will only take effect from the 2025/26 season.

The deal, valued at around €35 million plus a sell-on clause, will see the promising shot-stopper remain at Valencia for the current season before joining the Reds in 2025. A medical examination is scheduled soon to finalize the transfer, solidifying Liverpool’s long-term plans between the sticks.

Giorgi Mamardashvili, currently one of La Liga’s standout goalkeepers, has rapidly risen through the ranks since joining Valencia in 2021. Originally arriving on loan from Dinamo Tbilisi, his impressive performances earned him a permanent move to the Spanish club.

At just 23 years old, the Georgian international is seen as one of the most promising young goalkeepers in the world, making his future move to Liverpool a significant coup for the Anfield outfit.

While Mamardashvili’s impending arrival is exciting for Liverpool fans, it also signals a transition period for the club’s current number one, Alisson Becker. The Brazilian has been a pivotal figure at Liverpool since his arrival in 2018, playing an instrumental role in the club’s recent successes.

This transfer also highlights Liverpool’s forward-thinking recruitment strategy, securing young talent with the potential to become world-class under the guidance of their current stars.

The transition from Alisson to Giorgi Mamardashvili, when it eventually happens, will be closely watched, as Liverpool aims to maintain its high standards between the posts for years to come.
