The 19-year-old midfielder, on the road to full recovery from an injury, was fined €500 after showing up late to training because he couldn’t locate his boots—a lighthearted but important reminder from his loan boss, Pep Lijnders, about the importance of professionalism.
Bajcetic, who is under the guidance of Jurgen Klopp’s former assistant, has had a relatively smooth transition into Salzburg’s squad, with four appearances under his belt.

However, the incident—confirmed by local outlet Salzburg 24—saw the youngster boost the team’s fine pot, much to the amusement of his teammates. The entire squad gave him a sarcastic round of applause for his contribution to their future team activity fund.
Pep Lijnders, in a press conference, said of the situation, “It will be around €500 the day before the game,” reminding the young Spaniard of the high expectations placed on him.
Despite this light-hearted moment, Bajcetic’s slow integration back into competitive football following his adductor injury hasn’t been without challenges.
After missing much of last season due to injury, Bajcetic has found game time limited. He came off the bench in Salzburg’s recent Champions League clash against Brest but was unable to impact the game as Salzburg fell to a crushing 4-0 defeat.
Despite the hiccup, Bajcetic’s loan spell with Salzburg remains crucial for his development. Having signed a long-term deal with Liverpool following his breakthrough in the 2022/23 season, the young midfielder is expected to return stronger.
