Liverpool hold Man City to a draw, continue title race

Manchester City continues to lead the Premier League table despite fierce dwell with title contenders, Liverpool at Etihad Stadium on Saturday, April 9.

 

City burst the game wide open with an early goal advantage from captain Kevin de Bruyne’s deflected strike leaving Liverpool no choice but to fight back with a quick Diogo Jota goal assisted by Trent Alexander-Arnold.

 

I t was a dominant first half from Pep Guardiola’s side that saw the the league leaders leave the first 45 mnutes with a 2 – 1 win with Gabriel Jesus sneaking in behind Alexander-Arnold to restore the lead.

Liverpool returned into the second half with an equaliser from Sadio Mane’s birthday goal assisted perfectly by Mohamed Salah in the 47th minute.

 

The chance to win unlock the jam came when Raheem Sterling scored a goal but was cancelled by VAR as offside.

 

Riyad Mahrez came in from the bench to miss a winner in the dying seconds as he looped the ball over the keeper and over the bar.

 

Man City however, continues to top the table with a point ahead of Klopp’s side.
