Liverpool ‘hero’ Steven Gerrard under pressure at Aston Villa

It appears the Aston Villa job may have come to quick for former Liverpool captain, Steven Gerrard as the new season just like it was with Liverpool, isn’t going all too well for Villa.

The Aston Villa side has seen themselves earn one win in the last 4 games played, losing 3-1 to Crystal Palace and then just recently to West Ham by a goal margin.

Steven Gerrard and his side are set to face consecutive big games against Arsenal and Manchester City in the coming weeks, with Villa currently sitting 16th after 4 games.

For a former Liverpool striker, Stan Collymore, he believes the pressure is sure falling on the Scouser to turn things around at the club.

Collymore in a recent tweet even shades the media for not talking much about Aston Villa and Steven Gerrard’s condition this season.

“SG under pressure,” he tweeted.

“Will be interesting to see if he gets same scrutiny as other managers amongst friends in media who’ve been suspiciously absent in analysis thus far.

“If he does fail then Purslow should go. Ignored a plethora of quality coaches for his own vanity pick.”

Steven Gerrard took over the reins of the club’s affairs after fan favorite manager, Dean Smith was sacked last October due to a string of poor results which Villa seem to be falling back on this season.

The Villa board on their part, have supported the former Reds captain in the transfer market even managing to steal highly rated defender, Diego Carlos from Sevilla and convincing Philippe Coutinho to sign a permanent deal with the club.
