Liverpool star takes on iconic No. 7 shirt

In an exciting development for Liverpool Football Club, Colombian forward Luis Diaz will be taking on the prestigious No.7 jersey ahead of the 2023-24 season. Diaz, who joined Liverpool from FC Porto in January 2022, will make the switch from his previous No.23 shirt to assume the iconic number.
The No.7 jersey was recently vacated by veteran midfielder James Milner, who is set to embark on a new chapter in his career with Brighton & Hove Albion following the expiration of his contract this summer.
To accommodate the change, supporters who have already purchased the 2023-24 replica home jersey bearing the name ‘Luis Diaz’ and the number ’23’ will be personally reimbursed by the talented attacker.
The club has promised a like-for-like exchange, allowing fans to obtain a ‘Luis Diaz 7’ shirt instead.
This special exchange offer applies exclusively to all ‘Luis Diaz 23’ 2023-24 home shirts or kits bought through official club retail outlets, the official LFC online store, or the LFC Retail app. Fans interested in the exchange will need to return their qualifying shirts or kits, along with proof of purchase, by 11:59 pm BST on July 31, 2023. Detailed terms and conditions for the exchange can be found on the official Liverpool FC website.
In a gesture of goodwill, any ‘Luis Diaz 23’ shirts and kits returned as part of the exchange will be collected by the club and subsequently donated to the LFC Foundation, supporting various charitable initiatives and community projects.
The decision to hand Diaz the No.7 jersey underlines the club’s belief in his abilities and his increasing influence within the team. Since arriving at Liverpool, the Colombian forward has displayed tremendous skill and an eye for goal, quickly establishing himself as a fan favorite.
Liverpool fans eagerly await the new season, as they anticipate the electrifying performances that Luis Diaz will bring while donning the iconic No.7 shirt, following in the footsteps of legendary players who have adorned the number throughout the club’s storied history.
The No. 7 shirt has become quite iconic in recent years, with legendary players like David Beckham and Cristiano Ronaldo having donned the number for respective clubs over the years. For Liverpool however, the number also bears meaning as legendary players at the club such as Sir Kenny Daglish, Luis Suarez, James Milner and so many others have worn the number on the back of their shirt.
Another Liverpool player rumored for a shirt number change is Uruguayan star, Darwin Nunez, who is speculated to don the No. 9 shirt recently won by Roberto Firmino.
