Liverpool dealt Injury blow

Published

It all seemed to be going fly for Liverpool these past few weeks till Tottenham happened to put a dent to their quadruple hopes. Then came the energy draining Villa afterwards to leave another worry for Jurgen Klopp, as an important player in his team goes down injured.

A crisis slowly descends for the Reds as the date for the FA cup final nears.

The whole scenario all starts with the Villa game as Fabinho, Liverpool’s main Defensive Midfielder and the engine within the team go down injured shortly before half time having picked what is now confirmed a string injury..

Fabinho ever since the start of the season, has presented himself as one player responsible for the dirty work that sees midfielders like Thiago Alcantara and Jordan Henderson advance forward during forward plays and in time of need, act as defensive cover in open spaces.

The confirmation of his injury sees the player sit back for the duration of weeks, with every possibility seeing him likely to miss even the Champions League final.

At first, it had appeared as nothing all that serious as initially reported by Liverpool manager, Klopp in his post match interview of the Aston Villa game. But a day after, the club released a confirmation on the Brazilian taking some spells on the sideline with no specific time frame on his return.

The report leaves Liverpool short in midfield, though not in players but a like for like player that compliments Fabinho’s talent.

There are arguments that Liverpool skipper, Jordan Henderson or Thiago Alcantara can play the role of a number 6, but that obviously leaves Liverpool lacking whatever Thiago and Henderson provide in their roles in midfield as Naby Keita, Curtis Jones or Alex Oxlade Chamberlain to name a few can’t provide the much protection and forward plays Thiago and Henderson do while playing as a number 8.

If Naby Keita and Curtis Jones’s performances in midfield at Villa Park are anything to go by, it serves as prove that the Reds are going to be thin in midfield judging by their pattern of play.

As the FA Cup final draws closer, both sets of fans are left wondering what could happen as the day gradually breaks.
