“Listen up” — Jose Peseiro reacts to Ivory Coast win
There is hope but don’t be deceived, Peseiro warns his Eagles team despite defeat of Cote d’Ivoire.
Super Eagles coach, Jose Peseiro is not ready to let the victory against fellow West African nation, Cote d’Ivoire distract his Nigeria team.
Reacting to his first victory at the African Cup of Nations group tie, the Portuguese has warned his team to look at the future of the tournament instead.
The outcome of the match propelled the three-time African champions to four points, placing them at the top of the group alongside Equatorial Guinea.
While Jose Peseiro expressed satisfaction with the successful implementation of the team’s strategy against the Ivorians, he emphasized the need for focus on the upcoming challenge against Guinea-Bissau in the last group game.
Delivering a post-match statement, Peseiro acknowledged the importance of maintaining control in the next match, advising his players to be less timid and to avoid conceding possession to the opponent.
Despite the celebratory atmosphere following the victory, the coach reminded the team not to savor the moment excessively, highlighting the four days remaining before the crucial next fixture.
“I told my players not to savor the victory. We have four days left before the next match. From day one I told them: ‘you must win the AFCON’,” Jose Peseiro said.
