Seeking social media validation can destroy your dreams, Tim Godfrey warns youths

Popular Nigerian Gospel singer, Tim Godfrey, has admonished young people to stop seeking validation on social media.
Sharing at a programme tagged, Monday Night Live, Godfrey advised people to stop looking for love in the wrong places. In his word, “Stop seeking validation on social media. These days, we look for happiness in the wrong places. That is why some people’s joy is dependent on how many ‘likes’ their posts attract on social media. You are spending time focusing on all the wrong things. Every time you stay on Instagram, somebody is making money from it. Some of us have left our dreams and goals to focus on Instagram and Twitter.”
The multi-figted Nara crooner also shared his experience with an impersonator on Facebook. He added, “Someone once impersonated me on Facebook, posting my pictures and booking shows. He was discussing with people in Canada, asking to be paid. I didn’t know about it (on time). Every show I attended as I shared on my social media platforms, he shared it on the page too. The first thing one needs is to have integrity,” he said.

Rihanna’s unnamed film sells for $25m to Amazon

American giant multinational tech company, Amazon has purchased global rights to Peter Berg’s documentary about Rihanna, a Barbadian R&B star, for $25 million.
The firm, which specializes in cloud computing, digital streaming, e-commerce, and artificial intelligence, purchased the project shortly after Apple’s similar $25 million deal with Billie Eilish, a US songwriter.
According to the Hollywood Reporter, the project would offer “an unfiltered look” into Rihanna’s life” and provide a glimpse into her evolution as one of the world’s most well-known pop artists in a video spanning more than 1,200 hours.
Describing the experience working on the project, Berg was quoted to have said, “To go travel with Rihanna around Europe, and Rihanna is surrounded by girls. We were in France. She was going to do a concert on Bastille Day.
“And that truck driver who killed all those people plowed through them right in front of our hotel. So even in me trying to do something light, I had a very, very front-row seat to something that horrific.”
The American producer’s forthcoming project with Rihanna would be coming after the duo had previouslywork on Universal’s ‘Battleship’, a military science fiction action film that is loosely based on the board game of the same name.

How I dated too seriously, did naive things at 20 – Toke Makinwa reveals

Popular Nigerian on-air-personality Toke Makinwa, has sais she dated too seriously when she was in her 20s.
Sharing in a recent episode of her Toke Moments, a vlog show where the 35-year old OAP leverages on her personal experiences to offer lifestyle advice to fans, the OAP said she would re-live such experiences if given a second chance.
“Dear 20-year -old me, all you wanted to was to grow up, wear makeup, hang out with girls. You wanted to rush life. And then you realize that, as you grow older, you make the dumbest mistakes; look back asking, ‘what was I even thinking!’” she said.
“Dear 20-year-old me, don’t date too seriously. Meet people, go on dates, kiss boys. I feel like, when I was 20, I dated too seriously. It was like, ‘this relationship must lead to marriage!’
“I don’t really blame myself. When you look at how we grew up, women were raised to eventually be ‘someone’s wife.’ You never really think that your degree or what you’re doing with life mattered.”
“Some parents even made jokes like, ‘you’ll marry one day and be somebody’s wife. Is that how you’ll be when you’re in your husband’s house?’ Then, you begin to put so much pressure on yourself!”
Addressing 20-year-olds currently facing the dilemma of choosing a definite career path, those struggling to find self-worth, or grappling with unstable relationships, she urged that they breathe and explore.

Tonto Dikeh busted by Instagram user for faking Dubai speaking engagement

Tonto Dikeh has been exposed by an Instagram User after she claimed to have spoken at an event in Duba
The Nollywood actress had shared pictures of herself on a podium. In the pictures, the actress supposedly looked like she was speaking to an audience at a conference organized by Modul University Dubai.
But an Instagram user who took a closer look at the pictures said that the chairs were empty and it was just a facade.
He wrote ;
“Tonto attends a conference, hangs around a conference hall after presentation is over, poses on the podium speaking to an empty room with imaginary audience (zoom picture) using powerpoint presentation of the last speaker, thanks the university for an amazing experience.
Now this is what we call packaging. You wonder how these foundations make their money? They have to package pictures, spin images to seem like what they are not, present all these as evidence to a big funding individual/organisation and get the fundings they need to continue their expensive living.
She has been introduced to people in that line of work, now go through her page and start noticing, she posts old charity pictures with disabled, aged etc. Shouting out about 10000 smiles for kids in Nigeria. I tell you they have found a mugu and now packaging the thing for him.
Snapping pics with foreigners, making it seem like a deal is being closed and finally today unveiled a foundation in her son’s name. All na format. If you know, you know. All these hustle to be able to afford a few fake designer bag and clothes”.

Harvey Weinstein offers $25million settlement to his accusers

Movie producer Harvey Weinstein is offering a $25 million settlement that could settle most of his sexual assault case.
The American producer has been accused of sexual assault, harassment, and misconduct by several women, including movie, stars Lupita Nyong’o, Angelina Jolie, Gwyneth Paltrow, and Salma Hayek.
In 2018, his film production company, Weinstein Co., declared bankruptcy.
Variety reports that “the settlement would also resolve the class action case against him and his board of directors in accusations of a pattern of sexual misconduct”.
Under the deal, the insurance companies for the Weinstein Co. would pay the victims with the most serious claims $500,000 apiece. A larger pool of claimants would split the balance of the funds. The deal (which was first reported by the New York Times) has been hammered out with the assistance of the New York attorney general’s office, must still be approved by the judge overseeing the Weinstein Co. bankruptcy case.
And “at least four” plaintiffs are not interested in the settlement, and “at least three” are expected to oppose.
