Lionel Messi will end His career at Barcelona—Laporta Promises
If there is a promise that feels more like a threat, then it’s Barcelona President Joan Laporta promising that current PSG player, Lionel Messi will end his career with the Catalans.
This comes after reports that French club and current champions of Ligue 1, Paris Saint Germain were on the move to extend the Argentine’s contract to an extra year after it was speculated Messi’s contract will come to an end next season.
Lionel Messi according to reports was said to have notified the club of his desire to wait it out for the World Cup tournament to come to an end to see where he was at in his career.
The news somewhat prompted the theory of the Argentine looking towards hanging up the boots sooner than later after the World Cup.
But from Barcelona president’s recent comments, the retirement theory may be a little far-fetched as Laporta has indicated interests in reuniting with the 7 time golden ball winner again at Camp Nou.
According to Joan Laporta, he is indebted to Lionel Messi and sees it his responsibility to give the Argentine the beautiful ending he was denied recently.
The generational talent left the Catalans to join Paris Saint Germain after Barcelona was unable to renew his contract due to La Liga restrictions, with a popular video capturing the player tearing up in a press conference.
“I think, hope that Leo Messi’s story with Barcelona is not over yet,” Laporta said on ESPN.
“It’s still open, it’s our responsibility to make sure it has a more beautiful ending than it was”.
“As Barça president, I feel indebted to Messi,” he added.
