Lionel Messi Trolled For Insulting Mexico
Lionel Messi may have proven himself against rivals, Mexico, by providing a goal and assist in the world cup games, but one action against the North American side has been called out.
Lionel Messi has come under fire from Canelo Alvarez, a dual world boxing champion, for allegedly disparaging Mexico after Argentina’s 2-0 victory over that nation on Sunday.
The South American juggernauts defeated Mexico to get back on track after losing to Saudi Arabia.
Argentina moved into second place in Group C after a 2-0 victory thanks to goals from Messi and Enzo Fernandez in the second half.
Argentina’s athletes recorded themselves celebrating in the locker room after the win.
And after a video of Messi’s behavior went popular on social media, Canelo, a multiple-time world boxing champion from Mexico, expressed displeasure with it.
“Did you guys see Messi cleaning the floor with our jersey and flag?” Canelo wrote on Twitter.
“He better pray to God that I don’t find him.
“Since the Mexico shirt is on the ground, it’s already an insult.”
Lionel Messi is never one known for banter antics but his Canelo Alvarez calling the Argentine out for being disrespectful to Mexico may see our 7 time golden ball winner, win another award for being a shithouse within the game.
However, it’s possible the Argentine had no idea what he did if actually he knew what had happened in the first place for it to be considered a banter against his group stage opponent.
