Libya fights back! LFF appeals CAF’s decision

The Libyan Football Federation (LFF) isn’t going down without a fight after the Confederation of African Football (CAF) awarded Nigeria a controversial 3-0 win in the abandoned 2025 AFCON qualifier between the Super Eagles and Libya.

The decision followed a chaotic ordeal where the Nigerian team was reportedly stranded for 17 hours in an abandoned airport after their flight was diverted en route to Benina for the October 15 match.

Labeling the CAF ruling as “unfair,” the LFF has hired prominent Tunisian lawyer Ali Abbas to contest both the automatic win awarded to Nigeria and the hefty $50,000 fine imposed on Libya, which must be paid within 60 days.
