Let’s Support Ghana—Shehu Sani to Nigerians

For ex-Kaduna Senator, Shehu Sani, he is ready to bury the hatchet against the Ghana national team ahead of the Qatar world cup, and has gone on the media to urge his compatriots to do the same.

The Former federal legislator Senator Shehu Sani has advised Nigerians to cheer on Ghana to win the World Cup although their country isn’t participating in it in Qatar.

Shehu Sani acknowledged that it would be challenging for Nigerians to back Ghana.

Recall that in order to qualify for the World Cup, Ghana’s Black Stars defeated Nigeria’s Super Eagles.

The former congressman claimed Ghana did not prevent Nigeria from traveling to Qatar, adding that Ghana should not be held accountable because it put together the finest team possible to compete with the Super Eagles.

Taking to his verified Twitter handle, he wrote:

“Nigerians should support Ghana to win. I know it’s difficult to do so. They didn’t deny us the chance of going to Qatar. They simply assembled their best players and played better. I don’t know if the ones who played for us were our best. #FIFAWorldCup.”

The Nigeria vs. Ghana fixture has seen the games become a bitter rivalry and a derby likened to the ones between Manchester United and Liverpool of the English Premier League, where both sets of fans are united in their hate for the other club.

The United fandom can never be seen cheering for Liverpool in a Champions League final and neither can Liverpool raise flags in support of Manchester.

It is the same for Nigeria and Ghana, something the Nigerian Senator would be happy if football fans can see past to help the Black Stars get to the finish line. Of course, it is easier said considering the Ghana national team were the ones to eliminate the Super Eagles from the qualifiers to go through instead.
