Let’s Not Be Delusional — Patrice Evra To United Fans
It seems the 7-0 humiliation at Anfield seems to have done a lot to bring Manchester United fans to reality, and for those who aren’t well vast yet, Patrice Evra has come out to squash whatever believes they might hold of competing for the Premier League title this season.
Former Manchester United defender, Patrice Evra, has played down his former club’s chances of winning the Premier League title this season. Evra’s comments come in the wake of Manchester United’s 7-0 thrashing at the hands of Liverpool on Sunday.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand’s FIVE podcast, Evra said he wasn’t delusional enough to think that the current Manchester United team was ready to win the league. He also praised the team for moving in the right direction. “With this team, they are going in the right direction, but they are not yet ready [to win the Premier League]. I am not delusional,” he said.
Despite being a United fan, Evra admitted that he never thought that Manchester United would win the league this season. He claimed that winning the Premier League was a process, and United were still on that journey. “As a United fan, I will think about the title, but I will be honest with you, I never think United will be able to win [this season], because it is a process,” he added.
Manchester United’s defeat to Liverpool leaves them in third place on the Premier League table with 49 points from 25 games. However, they are still within touching distance of league leaders Manchester City, who have 59 points from 25 games.
