"We are sorry if you felt offended" -- Napoli to Victor Osimhen

Former Super Eagles head coach, Sunday Oliseh, has offered advice to Victor Osimhen, urging the Nigerian striker to consider leaving Serie A champions Napoli amidst a recent controversy.

Osimhen found himself in the spotlight after missing a penalty in Napoli’s 0-0 draw against Bologna, which led to a mocking TikTok video posted by the club.

In response to the club’s actions, Osimhen took the step of deleting all Napoli-related pictures and videos from his social media accounts. His agent also issued a threat of legal action against the club, adding fuel to the already simmering tension.

The 24-year-old forward’s frustration became apparent when he reportedly snubbed several of his teammates upon his arrival at the team hotel ahead of Napoli’s Serie A match against Udinese.

Commenting on the unfolding situation, Oliseh expressed his support for Osimhen and emphasized the importance of displaying character, hard work, and resistance to intimidation.

He also addressed those who had criticized Osimhen, referring to them as racists and ingrates.

Oliseh’s statement included,

“Forever proud to be Nigerian; One must show personality, work hard & refuse to be intimidated. Let racists and ingrates talk!

“That’s why they are eternal losers who secretly wish they were created like you! Osimhen needs to leave Napoli as soon as yesterday!!.”

Amidst the controversy, Napoli however has issued a statement of apology to the Nigerian international on the TikTok video.
