Lawyer calls for Cristiano Ronaldo to be deported from Saudi for ‘grabbing crotch’
In a recent turn of events, a Saudi lawyer, Nouf bin Ahmed, has called for the deportation of Cristiano Ronaldo from the country.
This comes after the Portuguese football star allegedly made obscene gestures during Tuesday’s match between his team, Al Nassr, and Al Hilal. Ahmed has vowed to file a complaint against Ronaldo for his actions on the pitch.
The controversy surrounding Ronaldo began earlier in the match when he was almost sent off for putting an opponent in a headlock.
The game ended with Al-Nassr suffering a 2-0 defeat to Odion Ighalo’s Al-Hilal. As Ronaldo was exiting the pitch, chants from the crowd in favor of his rival, Lionel Messi, seemed to provoke the Portuguese star.
He proceeded to grab his crotch, an action that was deemed “insulting” by some.
In response to Ronaldo’s alleged behavior, Ahmed took to Twitter to announce her intention to file a complaint with the Saudi Prosecutor’s Office for his “crime of public indecency.”
The lawyer believes that arrest and deportation are the appropriate punishments if the crime was committed by a foreigner.
“It’s considered a crime of public dishonor, and it is one of the crimes that entails arrest and deportation if committed by a foreigner,” Ahmed wrote on Twitter.
The lawyer’s decision has garnered support from several Saudis who believe that Ronaldo’s actions were inappropriate for an international football player in Saudi Arabia.
However, the club has come to Ronaldo’s defense, explaining that the gesture was made because he received a blow to his genitals during the match.
