Lawmaker For The Ogun State House Of Assembly Arrested

According to reports, Damilare Bello, a lawmaker-elect for the Ogun State House of Assembly, and a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has been arrested by the Department of State Services (DSS) for allegedly masterminding the Sagamu mayhem that left several banks vandalized during a naira scarcity protest.

The suspect had reportedly spurned several invitations by the DSS, but surfaced for Saturday’s election.

A source at the DSS confirmed Bello’s arrest, stating that preliminary investigation had commenced and the suspect may be prosecuted for crimes relating to arson and disturbing public peace.

The DSS also denied that the arrest was politically motivated, contrary to reports.

Meanwhile, the governorship candidate of the PDP in Ogun State, Oladipupo Adebutu, reportedly visited the DSS office in an attempt to mend fences with the service and clear past misconceptions about the office.
