LASU student bags 21 years’ jail for raping fellow students

Lagos State University (LASU), Ojo has come out as the second position on the “Time Higher Education 2021 Emerging Economies University Ranking”.

The Coordinator, Centre for Information, Press and Public Relations of LASU, Mr Ademola Adekoya disclosed this in a statement on Wednesday in Lagos.

Top Naija reports that in 2020, LASU was positioned among the best three Nigerian universities in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Ranking.

As indicated in the statement, the Acting Vice-Chancellor of the institution, Prof. Oyedamola Oke, received the news of the university’s new rating on Tuesday.

The acting VC congratulated the staff and members of the university community on the accomplishment.

The statement read, “The new status of the university is heart-warming and a further attestation to her quality teaching, research exploits and robust service delivery.

“The Acting Vice-Chancellor applauds the invaluable and immeasurable contributions of all stakeholders including; the Lagos State Government, members of staff and our world-class students towards the newest ranking of the institution.

“Without the unwavering support and commitment of all stakeholders to the LASU project, the feat would have been unattainable.”

He advised staff and students to be committed, carry on the faith, work and walk with the university management.

Oke said, “It is our desire to claim the university’s pride of place among the comity of universities, not only in Nigeria but the world at large.”

Lagos State University (LASU), located in Ojo was established as a Public University in 1983 by the enabling Law of Lagos State of Nigeria.

The University has been unrelenting in the pursuit of its mission of becoming a citadel of learning, a community with the trademark of excellence in teaching, research and service to humanity, a catalyst as well as an agent for development.

The Acting Vice-Chancellor of Lagos State University is Professor Oyedamola Oke.
