LASTMA officials recover 2 dead bodies in Lagos-Badagry road
Along the Lagos-Badagry Expressway on Saturday, January 13, operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) recovered the lifeless bodies of two individuals trapped beneath an empty ‘Man-Diesel’ truck at Barracks Bus-stop.
Adebayo Taofiq, the Director of Public Affairs and Enlightenment Department at LASTMA, revealed that the two deceased individuals were passengers on a motorcycle, which was flouting traffic regulations by traveling in the prohibited ‘one-way’ direction on the expressway.
The collision proved fatal, resulting in the immediate demise of the two motorcycle passengers, while the rider succumbed to injuries at a hospital located around Satellites Town.
Preliminary investigations indicated that the tragic incident occurred when a truck driver, traveling at high speed, lost control due to a rear busted tire.
The truck collided with the motorcycle, leading to the fatal consequences. Following the collision, the truck driver fled the scene, leaving the authorities to handle the aftermath.
The ‘Onireke’ Police Division took charge of the situation, taking custody of the two recovered bodies.
LASTMA Commander Area D, Ogunremi Olanrewaju, and his team swiftly conducted recovery operations, removing the truck and motorcycle from the road to ensure unimpeded vehicular movement along the expressway.
