Largest container ship ever to come to Nigeria arrives Onne [PHOTOS] topnaija.ng

On Saturday, the Nigerian Ports Authority announced the successful berthing in Onne Port, Rivers state, of the biggest container ship to ever call at any Nigerian port, TopNaija reports.

The Maerskline Stardelhorn vessel with Length overall of 300 metres, width of 48 metres was received at the Federal Ocean Terminal (FOT), at 1620 hours.

The Maerskline Stardelhorn Container Ship was built in 2015 (5 years ago), her length overall (LOA) is 299.92 meters and her width is 48.28 meters.

It has a capacity of 9,971(TEUs) and is a flagship from Singapore. According to some reports, the ship was diverted to Port Harcourt to decongest the Lagos ports.

The Nigerian Ports Authority is a federal government agency that governs and operates the ports of Nigeria. The major ports controlled by the NPA include: the Lagos Port Complex and Tin Can Island Port in Lagos; Calabar Port, Delta Port, Rivers Port at Port Harcourt, and Onne Port.
