Lagos tricyclist brutally murdered by Kesari boys in Mushin
On the evening of July 31, Bolakale Yusuff, a commercial tricyclist in Lagos, was brutally murdered by a notorious criminal gang known as the ‘Kesari Boys‘ in the Mushin area of Lagos.
Yusuff, a 30-year-old father of one, was attacked with a rifle and cutlasses, sustaining fatal injuries before succumbing to his wounds.
The incident occurred shortly after Yusuff had bid goodnight to his elder brother, Quadri, and left for his apartment in Agoro. Within 30 minutes, Quadri was informed of the attack and rushed to the scene, only to find his brother lying motionless on the ground.
The attackers, at least five in number, filmed the gruesome act and circulated the footage, in which they taunted Yusuff while inflicting deep cuts all over his body. The gang’s leader, known as Olori Esho, reportedly shot Yusuff before the others mutilated him.
Yusuff had severed ties with the gang due to their criminal lifestyle, which led to the deadly confrontation. The family filed a criminal complaint with the Area D Police Command the following day, but no arrests were made despite the crucial information provided to the authorities.
The police discovered a cache of weapons, including seven rifles and two pistols, in Esho’s apartment, but the suspects remain at large.
The family of the murdered Lagos tricyclist, supported by Headfort Foundation, is calling for a thorough investigation and justice for Yusuff.
