Favour Adindu, a co-tenant’s daughter has thrown the family of Adanne Ochinachi-Opara into grief after stabbed her to death during a scuffle at their residence in the Ejigbo area of Lagos State.

Based on TopNaija’s findings, Adenne’s father, Kennedy Opara, had left home for a child dedication when an argument ensued between his daughter and Favour.

The simple argument was said to have degenerated into a scuffle and in the process, Favour allegedly took a knife from the kitchen and stabbed Adenne in the chest.

Neighbours reportedly rushed Adenne to a nearby hospital in the area, where she was pronounced dead.

Speaking with the press, Kennedy said the police had commenced investigation into the matter, adding that his daughter was killed out of envy.

He said, “I am Adenne’s father; the incident happened in our place of residence and it was as a result of envy and greed. Our landlord does not stay with us. The person responsible for the crime is a tenant’s daughter; they are children and not adults.

“I have written my statement at the police station; they still want to get a corona form to be signed by the magistrate after which the case will be pushed to the SCIID, Panti, Yaba.

“As a result of the shock, my wife and children are not at home; they are all currently staying with my wife’s sister, who also lives in Ejigbo. I will give more details when I speak with them.”

When contacted, the state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, said the knife allegedly used in perpetrating the crime was recovered at the scene, adding that the incident was under investigation and the deceased’s corpse had been deposited in a mortuary.

He said, “On February 4, 2021, around 8.30pm, one Kennedy Opara reported at the station that while away for a child dedication at the Omiyale area, his wife called him around 4.30pm that their neighbour’s daughter, one Favour Adindu, 14, had stabbed their daughter, Adanne, 12, in her chest during a scuffle between them.

“She was rushed to the Living Spring Hospital on Alafia Avenue in the Orioke area of Ejigbo for medical attention, but the doctor on duty pronounced her dead. The corpse was later deposited in the Isolo General Hospital morgue for autopsy and report.

“However, the suspect has been arrested and is undergoing interrogation, and a kitchen knife was also recovered at the scene. Further development will be communicated.”

In a related development, the daughter of a landlady, Tina Essi, has been arrested for allegedly beating a tenant, Christian Akparie, to death in the Ikorodu area of Lagos State.

Essi and the 49-year-old victim were arguing over electricity bill and the argument degenerated into a fight.

It was learnt that the tenant reportedly sustained injuries during the fight and while being rushed to hospital for treatment, Akparie passed away.

Adejobi said in a statement on Wednesday that Essi had been arrested, adding that the Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, ordered her transfer to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department, Panti, Yaba, for further investigation.

Adejobi stated, “The Lagos State Police Command has arrested one Tina Essi for the alleged murder of 49-year-old Christian Akparie of No. 26 Orijamogun Street, Oreyo, Ikorodu, Lagos.

“Preliminary investigation revealed that on January 31, 2021, an argument over the payment of electricity bill ensued between the landlady’s daughter, Tina Essi, and the deceased, both of the same address, which led to a fight.

“After the fight, the deceased continually suffered severe pain, but unfortunately, on Saturday, February 6, 2021, around 7am, while the deceased was being rushed to the General Hospital, Ikorodu, he gave up the ghost.

“Police operatives attached to the Ikorodu Division of the command were contacted and they arrested the suspect. The Commissioner of Police, Hakeem Odumosu, has ordered that the suspect be transferred to the SCIID, Panti, for thorough investigation. The suspect is presently at the SCIID, Panti, Yaba.”
