Lagos state plans total ban of Okada

The Lagos state government has announced it will effect the total ban of commercial motorcyclists (okada riders) in six local government areas starting from June 1.

 

Governor Sanwo-Olu declared this during a meeting with the state Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alabi, DPOs, and Area Commanders today May 18.

 

The six local government areas mentioned were Ikeja, Surulere, Eti-Osa, Lagos Mainland, Apapa, and Lagos Island.

He added that local government areas that fail to effect the ban will face punishment.

 

This order is an aftermath of the murder of a sound engineer, David Imoh, by a mob in Lekki Phase 1.
