Lagos resident struggles to get refund from Dana Air after flight cancellation
A Lagos resident, Sulton Hamzat, is still waiting for a refund of N131,544 from Dana Air after the airline cancelled his Lagos to Abuja round-trip flight in April.
Hamzat had booked the flight on April 16, planning to travel on April 30, but received a cancellation notice on April 25, citing a suspension from the Nigeria Civil Aviation Authority (NCAA).
Topnaija recalled that a Dana Air flight experienced a crash landing at Lagos Airport on Tuesday morning April 23 and the operations of the aircraft were suspended by the Nigerian Government
The announcement of the suspension was made by Nigeria’s Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo.
Despite the harrowing incident, no fatalities were reported at the Lagos Airport.
The airline advised Hamzat to provide his booking reference, a valid ID, and account details for the refund, which he did on June 3.
However, he has not received his money nearly four months later, despite numerous calls and emails to the airline.
Dana Air has yet to respond to Hamzat’s complaint or inquiries from FIJ, leaving him frustrated in the current economic climate, where the sum could make a significant difference.
