Early morning protests broke out in different parts of Lagos over naira scarcity and Nigerians’ inability to access new notes, including Lagos-Ikorodu Road to Agege, Iyana-Ipaja, Epe, and Igando areas.

A protest also broke out in the Mowe area of Ogun State, leading to a halt in vehicular movement along the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway.

In his national broadcast, President Muhammadu Buhari stated that the old N500 and N1,000 notes are no longer legal tender, but extended the validity of the old N200 note for 60 days, ending on April 10, 2023.
