Lagos State Chairman of the People Democratic Party (PDP), Otunba Segun Adewale has disowned the general assembly meeting of the party purportedly called by some individuals not authorized by the party state organ.

The chairman said, in a disclaimer made available to journalists today, that the Lagos State Executives of the PDP have received information about an illegal Lagos State General Assembly’s (PDP) meeting scheduled to hold on Tuesday 21/03/17 at a venue around Sogunle Ikeja by 10am.

Otunba Adewale stated explicitly that the State executive has not called such meeting neither did it authorize anyone or group to do same on its behalf. “I wish to inform all peace loving members of the PDP and the general public in Lagos State that we did not call any such meeting, neither did we authorize anyone to do same on our behalf. Consequently, I wish to advise all members of our party to disregard any notice calling for such meeting by unauthorized persons or bodies”

In addition, the chairman stated that he alongside other members of the State Executive met with both INEC and LASIEC administrative heads on the 13th March, 2017 and no such meeting was agreed. He noted that LASIEC is yet to come out with its guidelines for the Local Government Elections.

While urging members of the party to be vigilant, the chairman called on law enforcement agencies to rise to the occasion as such illegal gathering can endanger the peace Lagos state currently enjoys. “I wish to advice members to be wary of mischief makers and sponsored agents that are bent on causing confusion amongst us for some selfish reasons” Adewale concluded.
