Lagos loses first female Assembly Deputy Speaker, Adetoun Adediran

The first female Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly, Mrs Adetoun Adediran, has passed away.

Adediran, who was also a former women leader of the All Progressive Congress, Lagos chapter, was said to have died in the early hours of Wednesday,  5th January 2022, following a brief illness.

Speaking to The Punch, the Spokesperson of the Lagos APC, Mr Seye Oladejo, said, “She was a former women leader for Lagos Central, a consummate politician and a committed leader of her people who contributed immensely to the growth of the party and the development of Lagos State. She will be sorely missed.”

Adetoun Adediran was the first elected female Deputy Speaker of the Lagos State House of Assembly when she served between 1999 and 2003.
