Lagos government identifies areas with high cases of cholera as death toll reaches 21
Lagos Island, Kosofe, and Eti Osa are where the Lagos State Government says there are the most cholera cases.
Kemi Ogunyemi, who is the Special Adviser to the Governor of Lagos State on Health, said that the number of deaths has also gone up to 21, which is six more than the previous number of deaths in the state. There are also 401 more cases of illness than the initial 350 number of infections.
She said that the rise in cases was expected after the Sallah celebrations, when a lot of people got together.
She did say, though, that potential cases are going down across all LGAs, especially in LGAs that had been hit before because of actions and efforts by the State Government to keep an eye on things.
Ogunyemi said that the Lagos State Government is keeping an eye on things through the Ministry of Health and other related organizations. They are also putting in place effective programs and activities to stop the disease from spreading.
