Lady Burns Certificate After Years Of Unemployment, School React

A tertiary institution has taken action after a young lady burnt her certificate over years of unemployment after graduation.

The lady, identified as Bridget Thapwile Soko, in a viral TikTok video, burnt her certificate after years of frustration of unemployment since graduation from Exploits University, Malawi.

In reaction to the video, the management of the aforementioned university revoked her BSc certificate.

Bridget had graduated from Exploits University with a BSc in Business Administration degree.

Sending her a statement regarding her action, the institution made clear a decision to revoke her degree.

Dr Desmond Bikoko, the president of Exploits University, in the letter dated 21st October 2022, said burning her certificate is a disgrace to the institution and brought out an aim to tarnish the school’s image.

It reads; “We have learnt with disappointment that you recorded a video clip burning a degree that we awarded to you upon completion of your studies with Exploits University and posted on social media.

“It is our interpretation that you did this to disgrace and tarnish the image of the university. “The university is therefore revoking the degree of business administration awarded to you. Our decision will also be made public through the media.

“Consequently, you are no longer a graduate of Exploits University and as such your degree certificate is invalidated with immediate effect.”
