Labour Party’s Alex Otti wins polling units across Umuahia
Dr. Alex Otti, the Governorship candidate of the Labour Party in Abia State, has recorded a resounding victory at polling unit 023 in St. Stephen’s Primary School, Umuahia.
Otti secured 61 votes, leaving his closest rival, Enyinnaya Nwafor of the Young Peoples Party (YPP), with just six votes. Professor Greg Ibe of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) came third with five votes. The ruling Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, Okey Ahiwe, secured only two votes, while Chief Ikechi Emenike of the All Progressive Congress (APC) and Bishop Sunday Onuoha of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) both scored one vote respectively.
The Labour Party also clinched victory at polling unit 022 at the same centre, securing 69 votes. The YPP and PDP candidates both garnered six votes each, while the ADC secured two votes. The APC and APGA candidates secured only one vote each.
In polling unit 024, the Labour Party also emerged victorious with 114 votes, while the ADC trailed behind with seven votes. The YPP secured five votes, APGA four, while the PDP and ADC both scored two votes each.
Furthermore, the Labour Party candidates also won in all the other polling units at the centre that have been declared so far. While counting is still ongoing in other polling units, the Labour Party’s impressive showing in the polling units declared thus far is a clear indication of the party’s popularity among the electorate.
