Labour party reacts as Wike backs Tinubu

The Labour Party (LP) in Rivers State has criticized Governor Nyesom Wike over alleged speculations of his support for Bola Tinubu, the presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The National Vice Chairman, South South, Labour Party, Favour Reuben, accused Governor Wike of making decisions based on personal interest and not the interest of the people.
Reuben said Governor Wike’s actions were questionable because he had previously described the APC as a “cancer” and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) as “malaria”.
He suggested that the Governor should have looked for a cure for these deadly diseases, who he said is Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s presidential candidate.

The LP vice-chairman also expressed concerns about Governor Wike’s support for a candidate from the South, given that the region has already produced a president and the current vice president.
He challenged Wike to be transparent and tell the people his preferred presidential candidate openly.
Reuben expressed concern that if the rumors about Wike’s support for Tinubu were true, it would be detrimental to the people of Rivers State and Nigeria as a whole.
He urged voters to use their Permanent Voter Cards (PVCs) to choose a government that would alleviate their suffering both at the state and federal levels.
In response, Governor Wike’s media aide, Kelvin Ebiri, denied the allegations, saying that the governor has not endorsed any presidential candidate from any political party.
He described the claims as baseless and urged the public to disregard them.
