NSCDC arrest two suspected hoodlums in Ilorin-TopNaija.ng

A youth organization, under the aegis of Kogi Youths for Social Justice (KYSJ) has called on the Minister of Internal Affairs to immediately sack the State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps, Mr Everestus Obiyo over the murder of an Okada rider, Onimisi Ilori.

The Okada rider was said to have been tortured to death by the Corps on Sunday at the Ogaminana office of the NSCDC for refusing to admit that he stole the motorcycle of his master.

The deceased was said to have earlier informed his master that the motorcycle was stolen a day earlier where he had parked it.

But the Corps who interrogated the suspect were said to have insisted that he should confess that he stole the motorcycle, a situation which made them allegedly torture him to death.

However, in a press statement signed by Alex Agiri, the public Relations officer of NSCDC, he said the suspect was not tortured to death but that he committed suicide in their cell.

But the president of the youth organization, Comrade Adeiza Mohammed in a statement expressed worry over the claim of the NSCDC that the suspect committed suicide, saying the organization was economical with the truth.

According to the statement “how can a suspect who was thoroughly searched, his cell phone, money and everything on him were confiscated before he was detained and even he was said to have been stripped naked before he was tortured to death, now come to commit suicide?”

“This is the lie of the century and we want the Federal Government to investigate this and bring all those involved in the murder of the innocent boy to justice, because the excesses of this Civil Defence guys are too much,” the statement added.
