Kogi governor Ododo aids ex-governor Bello during EFCC raid
In a dramatic turn of events, the incumbent governor of Kogi State, Usman Ododo, reportedly intervened to whisk away the embattled former governor of the state, Yahaya Bello, from his Abuja residence.
The scene unfolded on Wednesday when Ododo, accompanied by security personnel, stormed Bello’s home in Abuja amidst a heavy security crackdown by operatives of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and other security agencies, all apparently aimed at arresting the former governor.
The reason behind the heightened security presence around Bello’s residence on Benghazi Street, Wuse Zone 4, remains unclear, although speculation suggests it could be related to allegations of N84 billion money laundering previously leveled against him.
According to sources cited by TheCable, an EFCC official was overheard on the phone informing a superior that Bello was seen inside Ododo’s car as it departed from the scene.
Following Ododo’s departure, the EFCC personnel also vacated the premises, leaving questions lingering about the circumstances surrounding Bello’s departure and the ongoing investigation.
