Klopp Needs To Drop 2 Players—Chelsea Legend advises

Tony Cascarino, a former Chelsea star, has advised Jurgen Klopp, the manager of Liverpool, to temporarily remove Harvey Elliott and Joe Gomez from his team.

Elliott, according to Cascarino, was not up to par as a midfielder for Liverpool, and Gomez has been just too inconsistent thus far this season.

This season, Liverpool’s performance in the Premier League has been underwhelming.

With only 16 points from 12 games, Jurgen Klopp’s team is in ninth place on the log following their most recent Premier League loss to Leeds United.

“After being inferior to Liverpool for most of Klopp’s tenure, [Manchester] United are now seven points ahead of their bitter foes, and I think they will finish the higher of the two this season,” Cascarino said in his column for the Times.

“Klopp must give up on some players, at least for now. Harvey Elliott is a really exciting prospect, but he’s 19 and cannot yet reach the levels demanded of a Liverpool starter. Joe Gomez was outstanding in the win over Manchester City but has been dreadful for the rest of the season.”

In defense of Jurgen Klopp, the situation the Liverpool team are in at present doesn’t gift the manager the privilege of switching players at will to turn things around.

The Reds have injuries to multiple players who are influential to the team, which according to Klopp wouldn’t work well in the club’s favor if rushed back in upon return from injury.

Significant example is Diogo Jota, Joel Matip and Ibrahima Konate being rushed into the lineup at certain stages only to return back to the medical room.
