Army raids in Abuja, Oyo lead to key arrests

Nigerian Army troops have conducted anti-kidnap operations in Abuja, resulting in the arrest of suspected informants and kidnappers.

According to a statement released on the Army’s verified Facebook page, the operations targeted areas in the Federal Capital Territory and Oyo State, based on credible intelligence received from the public.

In Abuja’s Bwari Area Council, troops raided a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in Ajegunle Mpape.

Notorious informant Ashiru Mohammed, along with Raham Abubakar and Sadiya Mohammed, were apprehended. The suspects were found with a Beretta pistol, ammunition, ATM cards, mobile phones, and illicit drugs.

In Oyo State, troops intercepted suspected kidnapper Usman Mohammed Aliyu along the Igboho-Igbeti Road.

Aliyu was found with N400,000 and confessed to involvement in cattle rustling and kidnapping. The suspects will be handed over to prosecuting agencies after further investigation.

These kidnapper arrests aim to disrupt kidnapping syndicates and criminal networks in the affected areas.
