Kidnapped chairman of Delta private schools owner and wife freed after N12m ransom

Delta state chapter chairman of the National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Monday Ifoghere, and his wife, have been freed seven days after being kidnapped.

Deacon Ifoghere and his wife were abducted on Sunday, December 12, 2021, around the Okro market at Egbo, Kokori in Ethiope East Local Government Area of Delta State while returning from a family event to Ughelli.

The duo was reportedly released by their abductors at about 5:00 am around the Eku axis of the same local government area on Sunday.

They were reportedly released after a payment of N12 million ransom was made by the family, with contributions from associates and well-wishers.

The kidnappers had initially demanded N200 million, then reduced it to N100milion and finally N12million, The Punch reports.

According to the report, the victims are currently receiving treatment at an undisclosed hospital.

NAPPS National Vice President (South-South), Dr. Ochuko Akpeme, while confirming the release of the husband and wife told journalists that the news had elevated his spirit just as he expressed gratitude to God.

“My joy has no boundary. Their release is divine. It is God that made it possible”, he stated while thanking members of NAPPS all over Delta State for their solidarity.
